Free One Hour Photoshoots

    Who? What? Why?

    Hi, that’s me above. As you can see from this website, my main photography work consists of weddings and other social events. This is something that I’ve been doing since 2007. However, my interest in photography started way before that. I began ‘messing around’ with cameras and films when I was about 15 or so, that was in the late 80s. I had grand plans to be a staff photographer at the NME, or Melody Maker. Or, I fancied myself as a fearless expedition photographer for National Geographic. None of those things happened! Instead, I spend most of the mid-90s at Art College studying Fine Art and Photography. After a brief stint as a self-employed artist, I trained to be an Art Teacher. For almost 20 years I taught Fine Art and Photography, mainly at FE and HE level. I left mainstream teaching a few years ago. What do I do now? Well, I take copious amounts of photographs and restore furniture!

    Why am I offering free photoshoots? A few reasons. Firstly, I know what it’s like to be a creative person operating on a limited budget. That shouldn’t mean that good quality images are out of your price range. Secondly, I’m looking for new projects and new ways of working. Thirdly, I’m nosey! I find creative people fascinating, I like telling stories with images.

    Ts & Cs

    What do you get?
    - A free one-hour photo shoot (normal hourly rate is £50ph)
    - Free offer is valid throughout August, September and October 2024 only
    - Venue/location of your choice
    - The photographs taken within this hour will be shared with you via a password protected online gallery. From here you will be able to download the images - There is no set number of images, it will be all those that ‘work’.
    - You are free to use these one-hour images in whatever way you wish - so long as you credit me.

    NOTE - Extra hours will cost £50ph. In both instances (free and paid shoots), the copyright remains with me.
    - Only one free hour is available. If you are a member of a group, band, or some other instance where there are multiple people to be photographed, the free hour applies to the whole group. Individual members cannot claim separate free hours.

    • This free one-hour shoot does not apply to any wedding related photography or other family based events

Classical cellist? Post-rock band? Jazz trio? A painter, a sculptor, a dancer, or a comedian? You’ll need great imagery to promote yourself and what you do at some point in your career. Photographs are the first thing bookers, promoters and audiences come across before anything else - great quality images are essential.
